Position Description

What does a great Director of Front End Engineering do?


As Director Front End Engineering you will define and establish a User Experience Center of Excellence in Bank Solutions.¬  You and your team will be able to create high-end, pixel perfect front-end development, while including front end UX/UI design and research to raise the bar for Fiserv in what it means to empower and delight our customers.



  • Lead the development of front end code including JavaScript, JavaScript libraries (jQuery, Aurelia, Angular, React, etc.), HTML5 charting tools, CSS, Images, .NET MVC Views, and ASP.NET forms.

  • You must possess expert knowledge of the agile SDLC and have an affinity for UI/UX to lead our front-end software development process.

  • Establish a modern front-end development capability in BSG, recruiting and hiring a small team of impactful developers who take pride in creating pixel-perfect, beautiful implementations of innovative ways to make our clients? lives easier.

  • You and your team will design elegant solutions that answer business requirements, and the emotional desires of our customers.

  • You will lead a small but high impact team of researchers, designers and developers that evaluates, modifies and builds entirely new user interfaces to BSG?s large array of products, with an additional focus on leverage, empowerment and education of the existing product development teams for long term scale and sustainability.

  • You must be as comfortable conceptualizing future states as you are providing creative direction and designing engaging solutions, as well as, managing diverse teams and effectively working with partners to ensure timely delivery.

  • Facilitate product visions by researching, conceiving, wireframing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences for targeted products.

  • Establish UX design, instituting a user-centered design approach as an integral part of the SDLC on certain targeted products.

  • You will partner directly with clients, Product Management and with our Product Development teams on projects to reimagine how banking software works.

  • You will ensure projects are scoped, priced, resourced and deliver excellence in the form of creative products that craft amazing client experiences that raise the bar for expectations across the entire U.S Banking industry.

  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards for the Bank business unit, in alignment with existing corporate standards.

  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement creative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience.

  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design challenges.


Basic¬ qualifications for considerations:



  • 3+ year of experience managing, leading and developing technical engineering and design teams

  • 8+ years of experience as a Front-End Developer/Architect that delivers beautiful experiences to millions of users across the country.

  • Deep understanding and extensive hands-on experience developing content and front end code including JavaScript, JavaScript libraries (jQuery, Aurelia, Angular, etc.), HTML5 charting tools, CSS, Images, .NET MVC Views, and ASP.NET forms

  • Experience working on UX/UI projects for business applications

  • Experience leading multiple aspects of design including user research, product strategy, prototyping and design


Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • A compelling portfolio of work demonstrating

    • High-quality experience with design and development for a variety of projects

    • A strong understanding of current design trends, processes, and theories.

    • The ability to analyze and diagnose issues with existing design practices as part of the overall user experience.

    • A combination of strong conceptual thinking and strategic skills with an ability to understand customer needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable deliverables.

    • Strong project and people management skills. Must be able to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.


  • Ability to bring leading-edge ideas to the table and seek out new opportunities that will improve Fiserv?s results

  • Strong business acumen and collaborative skills

  • Ability to blend both quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback into the product design process

  • Strong influencing skills to help shape solutions and approaches among product teams to drive change and increase metrics

  • Ability to plan and manage concurrent tasks, assignments, projects, and deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and creatively, and learn quickly

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats

  • Proven track record of presenting to a diverse variety of business functions including Product Management, Sales, Operations, and executives

  • Curious and creative; enjoy complex issues and problem solving

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
